Alix Murray

Hi, I’m Alix. I am a Stop-motion puppet fabricator and costume designer. When it is possible, I love to allow my own personal experiences to inform my work. For example, I created a sand animation of a beating heart morphing into faces, for my college, final major project. It was based on the emotions I felt, such as being under pressure, anxious, and rushed when going through customs at Gatwick Airport as a person with Dyslexia. This award-winning animation can be seen on my website. I also seek inspiration from nature, mythical creature illustrators, and films.  During my time at The University of the West of England, I have explored building basic wire armatures to soldering ball and socket joints. I have learned the basics of animating which is a skill I am enthusiastic to explore further. I will always be ready and willing to learn new skills and techniques for puppet making and other areas of model-making. Recently, I have had fun translating two very different unique character illustrations drawn by two of my peers into three-dimensional puppets. In addition, soon, I will turn my own mythical character concepts into puppets.Â
